Role of the Inspector General
The purpose of the Civil Air Patrol Inspector General System is to create an independent and objective system to Provide leadership and coordination, recommend policies for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of Civil Air Patrol.
Goals are to:
- Assist the commander in resolving problems affecting Civil Air Patrol missions promptly and objectively.
- Create an atmosphere of trust, where members with issues can contact the IG, and the issues can be objectively and fully resolved without retaliation or fear of reprisal.
- Ensure the concerns of CAP members and the best interests of CAP are addressed through objective fact finding, and most of all ensure the personal behavior of the Inspector General and staff is above reproach.
- Educate CAP members and commanders regarding the privileges of and protection for those contacting an Inspector General.
